Salary: £80,000-£100.000 Package inclusive

An established and rapidly growing specialist contractor operating within the data centre and critical infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Hertfordshire.

The business delivers end-to-end solutions including design, M&E installation, connectivity, and technical fit-out for high-value data centre projects across the UK and internationally.

This is a senior-level position requiring strong commercial leadership, contract management expertise, and the ability to manage multiple projects within fast-paced, technically complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Financial Management

  • Take full commercial responsibility for multiple data centre projects from pre-contract through to final account.
  • Prepare and manage cost plans, budgets, forecasts, and cashflow reporting.
  • Lead monthly valuations and applications for payment.
  • Manage variations, change control procedures, and commercial negotiations.
  • Oversee subcontractor valuations, payments, and final accounts.

Contract Administration

  • Administer and interpret contracts (NEC, JCT or bespoke forms).
  • Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
  • Ensure contractual notices and correspondence are issued in line with programme requirements.
  • Manage dispute avoidance and resolution processes where required.

Procurement & Supply Chain

  • Lead procurement of subcontract packages and major materials.
  • Conduct tender analysis and negotiate commercial terms.
  • Build and maintain strong supply chain relationships.

Reporting & Governance

  • Provide accurate financial reporting to senior leadership.
  • Maintain detailed cost tracking and reporting systems.
  • Contribute to commercial strategy and bid support where required.

Leadership

  • Support and mentor junior commercial staff.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers and senior stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in client and consultant meetings.

Candidate Requirements

  • Quantity Surveying experience within construction, M&E, or data centre environments.
  • Proven experience managing high-value projects (£5m+).
  • Strong understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial reporting capability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial management systems.

Desirable

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Management.
  • MRICS qualified or working towards chartership.
  • Experience within critical infrastructure or hyperscale data centre projects.
