DevOps Engineer (Azure)

Location: Birmingham (Hybrid Working)Contract: 2 Weeks Day Rate: £500 per day Outside IR35 Start: Immediate

Overview

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a key transformation project within an Azure cloud environment. The project focuses on the ingestion of calculations scheme data from Excel into a pensions platform, enabling faster calculations, improved reporting capabilities, and enhanced operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will have significant experience designing, implementing and optimising enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, deployment automation and Infrastructure as Code solutions within complex Azure environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, Bicep and/or ARM templates.
  • Support deployment automation across multiple environments.
  • Work closely with Development, Testing and Operations teams to implement DevOps best practices.
  • Configure and manage Azure cloud infrastructure in line with security and governance standards.
  • Support data ingestion and integration processes between Excel-based source data and target platform environments.
  • Implement monitoring, logging and alerting solutions to improve operational visibility.
  • Troubleshoot deployment, infrastructure and platform issues.
  • Contribute to platform reliability, scalability and performance improvements.
  • Produce technical documentation and knowledge transfer materials where required.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • 6+ years' commercial DevOps engineering experience.
  • Strong Azure cloud experience.
  • Proven experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong Azure DevOps experience.
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise using Terraform, Bicep or ARM.
  • Experience with deployment automation and release management.
  • Experience working within large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, tooling and best practices.
  • Experience working collaboratively across Development, QA/Test and Operations teams.
  • Experience with source control platforms such as Git.
  • Strong scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash or Python).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tooling.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience within pensions, financial services or regulated environments.
  • Experience with data integration, ETL or data ingestion projects.
  • Experience working with Excel-based data migration or transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and container platforms (AKS).
  • Knowledge of Azure data services.
  • DevOps or Azure certifications.
