Location: Telford (ideally 2 days per week on-site, with flexibility)Contract: 12 months, Inside IR35 Clearance: BPSS mandatory; SC preferred or eligibility required

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join the team, working on critical Central Government projects. You will be part of an Agile Scrum team alongside Java Engineers, Front-End Developers, and Quality Engineers, focused on modernising legacy services into scalable, cloud-ready platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
  • Ensure strong test coverage with JUnit
  • Support containerised deployments in Kubernetes environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions
Required Skills
  • Java, Spring Boot, JUnit, Kubernetes
  • Experience working on Central Government projects
Desirable Skills
  • JPA, Kibana, Maven, Mockito, AWS, GitLab, Helm, OpenAPI, SQL, Shell scripting
