Senior Data Architect - 6-Month Contract

Location: London, Bristol, or Manchester (2 days per week on-site, flexible)Contract: 6 months, Inside IR35

Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect to lead the design and delivery of modern data architecture solutions for a large-scale transformation programme. This role involves shaping data strategy, ensuring best practices, and enabling secure, scalable, and interoperable data solutions across complex systems, with a strong focus on AI integration, healthcare data standards, and data transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate business needs into robust data architecture solutions aligned with organisational priorities and emerging technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to other data architects, supporting the development of data dictionaries, governance standards, and reusable patterns.
  • Champion data standards in healthcare, ensuring compliance and interoperability across systems.
  • Collaborate with technical architects and engineering teams to embed data principles into cloud-native and hybrid system designs.
  • Advocate for data as a strategic asset, promoting approaches such as data-as-a-product and enabling secure, lawful, and trusted data sharing.
  • Design and evolve modern data models and metadata frameworks that enable interoperability, scalability, and ethical data sharing across platforms.
  • Drive data transformation initiatives and support the integration of AI-driven solutions into data architecture.
Skills & Experience
  • Healthcare data standards and experience with healthcare data transformation projects.
  • Strong understanding of AI technologies and their application in data architecture.
  • Communication skills (data): Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and facilitate complex discussions.
  • Data analysis and synthesis: Skilled in profiling, source system analysis, and presenting insights.
  • Data governance: Experience defining and evolving governance frameworks and assuring data services.
  • Data modelling: Strong understanding of concepts, principles, and industry standards; ability to produce and align models across multiple subject areas.
  • Metadata management: Ability to design and manage metadata repositories and advise on tools and processes.
  • Strategic thinking: Communicate how activities align with strategic goals and deliver value.
  • Problem resolution: Coordinate teams to resolve data-related issues and implement preventative measures.
