Senior Android Developer (SC Cleared or eligible)

Overview
\n
We are seeking an experienced Senior Android Developer to design and build high-quality native mobile applications with modern, scalable architecture. The ideal candidate holds active SC clearance and brings strong experience in delivering performant, secure, and user-focused Android solutions.
\n Experience working to GDS (Government Digital Service) standards and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (eg, GitHub Copilot) are highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
\n
Design, develop, and maintain native Android applications using Kotlin/Java and the Android SDK
\n Integrate RESTful APIs and external services into mobile workflows
\n Optimise application performance, including caching strategies, offline support, and API efficiency
\n Support production releases, ensuring readiness for Google Play Store submission
\n Address Play Store compliance issues and respond to rejection feedback
\n AI Engineering & Development Practices
\n Leverage AI agents and coding assistants (eg, GitHub Copilot) for code generation, refactoring, and testing
\n Review and validate all AI-generated code prior to production use
\n Use AI tools to support debugging, root cause analysis, and impact assessment
\n
Skills & Experience
Essential:
\n Strong experience with Kotlin (preferred) and/or Java, and the Android SDK
\n Proven experience integrating REST APIs (or similar services)
\n Hands-on knowledge of Google Play Console, app signing, and release management
\n Experience with mobile performance optimisation and secure coding practices
\n Familiarity with modern Android architecture components (eg, MVVM, Jetpack libraries)
\n Active SC clearance
\n
Desirable:
\n Experience working with GDS (Government Digital Service) standards
\n Familiarity with AI platforms and APIs (eg, OpenAI, Azure AI)
\n Experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar coding assistants
\n Understanding of AI/UX interaction patterns and best practices
