Lead Analytics Engineer - Contract

Location: Hybrid (1 day/week in London)
Rate: £650-£700 per day (INSIDE IR35)
Contract Length: 3 Months

Overview

We're looking for a Lead Analytics Engineer to drive the design and delivery of scalable data models, pipelines, and analytics solutions. You'll sit between data engineering and analytics, enabling high-quality, trusted datasets for reporting and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable data models for analytics (e.g. star schema)
• Develop and maintain data pipelines / transformations
• Define and implement data standards, quality, and governance
• Enable self-service analytics through well-structured datasets
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions
• Lead best practice across modelling, documentation, and performance
• Support and mentor analysts / engineers within the team

Skills & Experience

• Strong SQL and data transformation experience (e.g. dbt or similar)
• Proven experience building analytics layers / semantic models
• Solid understanding of data modelling principles
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure / Fabric preferred)
• Strong Power BI or equivalent BI tooling
• Experience working with stakeholders in a delivery-focused environment

Desirable:

• Python or other scripting languages
• Experience leading or mentoring teams
• Exposure to modern data stack tooling
