DevOps/Platform Engineer

DevOps Engineer – £55,000 + Benefits – Remote (1 day/month Manchester)

This is a remote role with about one day a month in Manchester. No pressure around office time beyond that.

I’m working with a fintech company that connects large businesses to banks and payment providers.

You’d be joining the Cloud Infrastructure team, helping look after and improve the environments across dev, test and production.

What they’re hoping for:

• You’ve worked/had exposure with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) in any form.

• You’ve had some involvement with deployments, environments or infrastructure

• You’ve seen how systems behave in production, even if not deeply

• Any exposure to GCP would be great

You don’t need to know everything listed below on day one.

Tech you’ll get to work with:

• Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

• Terraform

• Kubernetes (GKE)

• CI/CD pipelines

• Linux

• Monitoring / alerting tools

What the role actually looks like day to day:

• Helping improve and maintain cloud infrastructure

• Supporting deployments and environments

• Working with containerised services

• Keeping an eye on systems and helping fix issues when they come up

Why people tend to enjoy it:

• Remote-first and low-pressure environment

• A team that will help you get up to speed rather than expect everything upfront

• Real systems with real users, not throwaway projects

• A sensible approach to engineering without overcomplicating things

If you’ve got some cloud or DevOps exposure and you’re curious, it’s worth a chat. No expectation to be perfect.

You don’t need a CV ready — a LinkedIn profile or a quick message is enough to start.
