SQL Database Administrator
SQL Server DBA | Up to £65,000 + Benefits | Hybrid (Wigan)
Most DBA roles are about keeping the lights on. This isn't one of them.
You'll be joining a specialist DBA team helping modernise large-scale SQL Server and Oracle estates for public sector organisations used by millions of people across the UK. A big part of the role is supporting cloud transformation projects, moving traditional database environments into Azure and Microsoft Fabric.
They're investing heavily into modern Microsoft technologies, so it's a good opportunity if you enjoy core DBA work but want to spend more time around cloud, automation and modern data platforms.
From a technical perspective, they're looking for someone strong with DBA fundamentals.
Performance tuning, troubleshooting, optimisation, backup/recovery and high availability are the key areas. Most of the work is centred around SQL Server, but you'll also be working with Oracle environments. Azure, Fabric, cloud migrations or automation experience would be beneficial, but they can help develop those skills if the fundamentals are there.
The role is hybrid from either Wigan or Rochdale, paying up to £60,000 plus benefits.
I imagine most DBAs aren't actively looking, so I've turned CV required off for applications. You can apply with your LinkedIn profile and if it looks relevant I'll give you a call to run through the role properly. We can cross the CV bridge later.
