Junior Automation Engineer
Junior Automation Engineer
Farnborough | Hybrid - 2/3 days remote per week
Up to £42,000 + benefits
Must be a sole UK national and eligible for SC clearance
An opportunity for an Automation Engineer to work on constantly evolving, experimental and cutting-edge technology supporting projects of National Security importance.
You'll join a team of five, reporting to and being mentored by a Senior Technical Engineer. The role offers the opportunity to develop your automation and infrastructure skills while working alongside experienced technical specialists across modern infrastructure environments.
The role
You'll help design, develop and implement automation solutions, working with Architects and technical SMEs to understand requirements and identify where infrastructure and processes can be automated.
The technical environment has a strong focus on Infrastructure as Code, Linux, CI/CD and containerisation.
Key areas of experience include:
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Ansible
- Linux environments
- CI/CD pipelines and Git/version control
- Containerisation, ideally Kubernetes
- Scripting with PowerShell, Python and/or Bash
- Azure or other cloud platforms
- Networking fundamentals including IP addressing, subnets, routing and firewalls
You'll also support system integration and validation, troubleshoot technical issues and contribute to documentation including diagrams and operating procedures.
Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, PKI, OpenSSL or other enterprise infrastructure technologies would be useful, but isn't essential.
You don't need to tick every technical box. This could suit someone earlier in their Automation, DevOps or Infrastructure Engineering career who has a good grounding in the core technologies and wants to continue developing within an experienced technical team.
Due to the nature of the projects, you must be a sole UK national and eligible to obtain SC clearance at the point of CV submission.
If you want to develop your automation skills while working on experimental technology that directly supports UK National Security projects, this is a strong opportunity to do it.
