Day Rate Contract | Tier 1 Bank | Data Security Fabric Programme

We are hiring multiple Data Security Engineers to join a flagship Data Security Fabric programme within a Tier 1 banking environment. Working under the leadership of the Data Security Architecture Lead, you will play a hands-on role in implementing secure-by-design controls across the bank's distributed data estate.

This programme will embed enterprise-grade security across cloud data platforms, identity frameworks and metadata-driven governance controls - forming a core component of the bank's long-term AI and digital strategy.

The Role

As a Data Security Engineer, you will:

• Implement secure data platform controls aligned to enterprise architecture standards

• Configure and enforce fine-grained access controls (RBAC/ABAC)

• Integrate identity-aware data access policies with enterprise IAM solutions

• Deploy encryption, masking and tokenisation controls across structured and unstructured data

• Support the build and hardening of secure data lakes and data warehouse platforms

• Embed security controls within CI/CD and DevSecOps workflows

• Assist with metadata-driven governance and policy propagation

• Contribute to regulatory compliance mapping (GDPR, PCI DSS, internal audit)

• Support security testing, validation and remediation activities

This is a delivery-focused engineering role within a complex, regulated environment.

Required ExperienceEnterprise Data Security Implementation

• Hands-on experience securing data platforms in large enterprise environments

• Strong understanding of database and data lake security controls

• Experience working within regulated industries (ideally financial services)

Zero Trust & Identity Integration

• Practical implementation of RBAC/ABAC models

• Integration with IAM and privileged access management systems

• Experience designing fine-grained data access controls

Cloud Data Platform Security

Experience securing data platforms within one or more major cloud environments:

Amazon Web Services
Microsoft
Google Cloud

• Securing data lakes, warehouses and analytics platforms

• Encryption at rest and in transit

• Key management integration

• Secure API and data pipeline controls

Data Governance & Metadata Controls

• Data classification and tagging implementation

• Supporting lineage and audit traceability

• Integration with enterprise catalogue or governance tools

• Policy enforcement through metadata-driven frameworks

Technical Exposure (Desirable)

• Data masking and tokenisation technologies

• Database activity monitoring

• SIEM integration

• Infrastructure-as-Code security

• Secure event-driven architectures

Personal Profile

• Strong engineering mindset with attention to security detail

• Comfortable working within structured enterprise governance frameworks

• Ability to collaborate across data, security and platform teams

• Delivery-focused with strong documentation and communication skills

Contract Details

• Day rate: Competitive, aligned to Tier 1 banking market

• Hybrid working (London-based engagement)

• Initial 6-month contract with extension potential
