DevOps Engineer (Architecture & Security Focus)

We're working with a leading financial services client to hire a DevOps Engineer to drive the design and delivery of enterprise-wide security solutions across a complex technology landscape.

This is not a traditional cloud DevOps role. Instead, it is a design and architecture-led position, suited to someone who operates at a Lead Engineer/Team Lead level and brings a strong background in solution design, security architecture, and platform engineering.

The role remains hands-on but requires someone comfortable defining strategy, shaping technical direction, and guiding implementation across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and architect end-to-end security solutions across cloud and on-prem environments
• Build and scale secure platforms, frameworks, and reusable security patterns
• Lead key initiatives across IAM, CI/CD security, secrets management, and supply chain security
• Define architecture for robust secrets and key management solutions (eg HashiCorp Vault, cloud-native tools)
• Partner with engineering and platform teams to close security gaps and guide implementation
• Own delivery of new security environments and capabilities, from concept through to enterprise adoption
• Provide technical leadership to engineers, setting direction and ensuring high-quality delivery
• Engage senior stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide adoption of secure-by-design principles

Key Requirements

• Strong background in solution design and architecture within DevOps/platform or security engineering environments
• Proven experience in security engineering, DevSecOps, or security architecture
• Strong hands-on capability, with the ability to translate architecture into implementation
• Expertise across cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and on-prem environments
• Deep understanding of CI/CD security, IAM, secrets management, and supply chain security
• Experience designing and implementing solutions using tools such as HashiCorp Vault (or similar)
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience working across engineering and security teams

Desirable

• Cloud certifications (eg AWS Professional, Architecture or DevOps track)
• Experience operating within large, regulated environments
• Background in platform engineering or enterprise-scale system design
