Engineering Manager/Team Leader

We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Engineering Lead to head up a high-performing infrastructure engineering team. This role is not only about deep technical knowledge but also about exceptional leadership, mentoring, and people management skills. You will be responsible for motivating and developing engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, and driving continuous improvement across the team.

The successful candidate will combine proven leadership qualities with hands-on expertise in VMware technologies, automation platforms, storage, and backup solutions, ensuring the delivery of secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of engineers, creating an environment where individuals can thrive and deliver their best work.

  • Establish a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing across the engineering function.

  • Provide career development, coaching, and performance management to support team growth and retention.

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and support of VMware platforms (vSphere, vCentre, SRM, Dell VXRAIL).

  • Manage Microsoft identity technologies including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.

  • Drive automation initiatives using platforms such as Ansible, Terraform, VMware Aria, and PowerShell.

  • Ensure reliable data protection and resilience by managing Storage Area Networks and backup technologies (Dell Networker, Avamar, DPS, Veeam VB&R).

  • Champion compliance with industry standards including PCI-DSS, EU GDPR, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to align engineering delivery with business objectives.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams with a focus on people management and mentoring.

  • Strong technical background in VMware (vSphere, vCentre, SRM, VXRAIL) and Microsoft identity technologies (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).

  • Proficiency in automation and orchestration tools (Ansible, Terraform, VMware Aria, PowerShell).

  • Solid understanding of Storage Area Networks and enterprise backup technologies (Dell Networker, Avamar, DPS, Veeam VB&R).

  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks including PCI-DSS, EU GDPR, and SOX.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
