Jira SME
We are seeking an experienced Jira Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the design, configuration, optimisation, and governance of Jira across our organisation. You will act as the go-to expert for Jira best practices, supporting delivery teams, stakeholders, and leadership to ensure Jira aligns with business processes and enables efficient, scalable ways of working.
Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary Jira expert across the organisation (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence)

Design, configure, and maintain Jira workflows, issue types, screens, permissions, and automations

Translate business and delivery requirements into effective Jira solutions

Lead Jira implementations, migrations, and upgrades (Cloud and/or Data Center)

Establish Jira governance, standards, and best practices
-
Provide advanced reporting and dashboards for teams and leadership

Troubleshoot complex Jira issues and provide expert-level support
-
Coach and train users, administrators, and delivery teams

Collaborate with Agile, DevOps, Product, and IT teams to continuously improve tooling
Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Jira Administrator or Jira SME

Deep knowledge of Jira Software and workflows

Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)

Experience with Jira automations, custom fields, and permissions
-
Hands-on experience with reporting, dashboards, and metrics
-
Ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Desirable Skills

Experience with Jira Service Management and Confluence

Atlassian certifications (ACP-xxx)

Experience with Jira Cloud migrations or enterprise-scale Jira

Scripting experience (eg ScriptRunner, Automation rules)

Knowledge of DevOps tools and integrations (eg Bitbucket, GitHub, CI/CD
