Solution Architect – HR Transformation (Oracle HCM / Workday)

Contract: Initial 3–6 months (extension highly likely into a multi-year transformation programme)

Location: Nottingham – 2 days per week onsite

We're supporting a major HR transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to lead the end-to-end design and delivery of a new HR platform landscape.

This role will take ownership of the overall solution architecture, working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and implementation partners to ensure a scalable, secure, and future-proof solution across the HR technology estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end solution architecture for a large-scale HR transformation programme.
  • Translate business requirements into robust solution designs and architectural blueprints.
  • Define target architecture, integration patterns, security models, data flows, and reporting architecture.
  • Lead solution design workshops and act as the key design authority throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Provide architectural governance during build, testing, and deployment phases.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and GDPR compliance.
  • Define integrations between HR platforms and downstream systems including Payroll, Finance, Identity Management and other business applications.
  • Assess design changes, technical risks, and provide guidance on mitigation strategies.
  • Partner with project managers, technical leads, implementation partners, and senior business stakeholders.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Lead Consultant, or equivalent on large-scale Oracle HCM Cloud and/or Workday implementations.
  • Experience delivering at least two enterprise HR transformation programmes.
  • Strong knowledge across multiple HCM modules such as Core HR, Talent, Recruitment, Learning, Payroll, Absence, or Performance.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • HR platform architecture and security models
  • Integrations and APIs
  • Reporting and analytics
  • Workflow and approval processes
  • Data migration methodologies
  • Experience designing enterprise integration architectures within complex environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable

  • Oracle HCM Cloud and/or Workday certifications.
  • Experience supporting global HR deployments.
  • HR technology strategy or HR process optimisation background.
  • Agile delivery experience.
