My client, a leading provider of risk management software to the energy, commodities, and financial services sectors is actively expanding their team and is looking to add a an analytical Product owner to the team.
This position would suit an ex quant or data analyst with a mathematical background who is keen to move into product.
Reporting into the Product Manager, The successful Product Owner will be tasked with to managing roadmap planning and delivery, gather requirements from clients, and ensure that analytics features (including calculations like Pricing Curves, VaR, PFE, P&L) are designed, tested, and delivered successfully .
Key Responsibilities for the position of Product Owner:
- Gather and clarify client requirements (especially for new client take-ons).
- Analyse data and validate outputs for complex analytics (Pricing Curves, VaR, PFE, etc.).
- Write clear BRD/FRDs and ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Participate in roadmap planning, mid-term feature planning, and gap analysis.
- Work with Professional Services post-sales to scope and implement 3–4 projects simultaneously.
- Help with client questions, bug triage, and after-care.
- Collaborate with Dev/QA to design, test, and deliver enhancements.
- Conduct UAT, defect management, and provide feedback loops between clients and engineering.
Ideal Background for the position of Product Owner
- 3+ years in a relevant domain (energy, commodities, or financial services) in an analyst/consulting role.
- Proficiency in SQL and strong data-analysis skills.
- Exposure to one or more: Pricing Curves, VaR, PFE, P&L, stress testing, or limits management.
- Ability to turn business needs into clear, testable specifications and implementation plans.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders; strong organisation and prioritisation.
- Profile Fit: Quantitative / data-oriented analyst looking to move into product, with strong communication skills and ability to translate complex analytics into clear specifications.
Nice to have
- Experience with a risk or pricing system, ideally including data validation or construction of Pricing Curves.
- Familiarity with risk reporting, market data, and risk methodologies.
- Hands-on UAT/test design and defect management (e.g., Jira/Confluence).
- Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
- Professional proficiency in English (spoken and written); additional European languages are a plus.
- Experience in business systems implementation (requirements, configuration, or testing) or data science.
