SAP S/4HANA Functional Business Analyst - Permanent - Full-time On Site - Stoke-on-Trent - £55,000-£65,000

Important: This role requires hands-on SAP S/4HANA implementation experience. Applications without a demonstrable SAP background will not be considered. The position is Full time on site in Stoke-on-Trent, five days per week - local candidates or those able to commute reliably are strongly encouraged to apply.

TalentBank Technology is retained by a Stoke-on-Trent manufacturing business to appoint an experienced SAP S/4HANA Functional Business Analyst for a significant greenfield ERP implementation programme.

This is a senior, programme-critical role. The business is implementing SAP S/4HANA from the ground up - no existing ERP documentation, no SAP footprint on the factory floor. The appointed analyst will work Embedded within the programme from day one, partnering with an external SAP integrator before taking full ownership of the functional BA workstream as the engagement matures across a two to three year runway.

The scope spans core SAP modules across MM, SD, FI/CO and PP - from initial requirements and process design through to UAT, data migration, training and post go-live support - covering warehousing, finance, planning, sales, purchasing and ultimately a full factory rollout. This is not a generalist BA role. Deep, practical SAP S/4HANA experience is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the functional BA workstream across a full SAP S/4HANA greenfield implementation - from requirements gathering through to post go-live stabilisation
• Elicit, document and validate detailed functional requirements across SAP MM, SD, FI/CO and PP, working directly with operational and finance stakeholders
• Design and document future-state SAP process flows from scratch - no existing documentation to inherit
• Act as the functional bridge between business stakeholders and the SAP technical team, ensuring solution design accurately reflects operational requirements
• Collaborate closely with the external SAP integrator on configuration, testing and deployment - progressively taking ownership of the BA function as the programme develops
• Lead end-to-end UAT across all programme phases - test script authoring, execution coordination, defect management and formal sign-off
• Drive data migration scoping, cleansing and validation activity in partnership with technical teams
• Produce high-quality SAP-specific documentation - functional specs, process maps, configuration rationale, training materials and user guides
• Support change management, end-user training delivery and post go-live hypercare across each phase rollout

Required Experience

• Proven hands-on experience as a Business Analyst on at least one full SAP S/4HANA implementation - from blueprint/design through to go-live
• Strong functional knowledge across SAP MM, SD, FI/CO and PP - able to engage credibly on configuration decisions and solution design across multiple modules
• Direct experience in a manufacturing or production environment is highly desirable - familiarity with shop floor processes and factory operations will be a clear advantage
• Demonstrable experience producing SAP functional specifications, process documentation and configuration rationale to a professional standard
• Experienced in leading or co-ordinating UAT within an SAP programme context - not just participation
• Hands-on involvement in SAP data migration activities - scoping, mapping, cleansing or validation
• Comfortable operating in a greenfield environment - able to establish process and documentation frameworks where none currently exist
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills across all levels, from operational teams and shop floor supervisors through to IT leads and business directors
• Able to commit to five full days per week on site in Stoke-on-Trent - this is a firm and non-negotiable requirement
• SAP certification in one or more relevant modules is advantageous; experience working directly alongside an SAP systems integrator is a strong differentiator
