SAS Technical Engineer

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior SAS Engineer to support a major SAS migration initiative from Cloudera to AWS. This role focuses on hands-on analysis, remediation, and testing of SAS code to ensure seamless compatibility with AWS-based data sources. Working closely with technical leads, architects, and business users, the Senior SAS Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring functional accuracy, performance stability, and successful business sign-off throughout the migration life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

Lead SAS migration activities from Cloudera (HDFS/Hive) to AWS.
Oversee reconfiguration of SAS Servers, metadata, libraries, and connectivity points.
Analyse and redesign SAS jobs referencing HDFS/Hive to AWS-based equivalents.
Manage prioritisation, planning, and progress tracking for 1,000+ SAS jobs.
Collaborate with business SMEs to coordinate testing and formal sign-offs.
Validate SQL compatibility and ensure output consistency between Cloudera and AWS.
Provide technical leadership and ensure timely issue resolution.
Engage with senior stakeholders and provide regular migration status reporting.
Mentor and guide onshore and offshore SAS engineers.

Mandatory Skills

Expert-level SAS and SQL.
Strong stakeholder management and project leadership skills.
Proven experience delivering SAS platform migrations (Cloudera - AWS preferred).

Secondary Skills

AWS exposure.
Strong understanding of the Cloudera ecosystem (Hive, HDFS).
