Assistant Accountant (Temporary)

Assistant Management Accountant (Interim/Day Rate– Paternity Leave Cover) | London

A high-growth, mission-led SaaS business in the digital assets space is looking for an energetic, ambitious finance professional to support the day-to-day running of the finance function during a paternity leave cover period

The role

Working closely with the wider finance team and reporting into senior finance leadership, you’ll play a central role in bookkeeping, financial controls, and supporting month-end. You’ll be the first point of contact for finance queries and will gain exposure to commercial finance and SaaS business models, with clear development and progression opportunities.

Key responsibilities

Accounts receivable:

  • raise invoices (one-off, new wins and recurring), track receipts, issue statements, and resolve billing queries
  • Navigate HubSpot (CRM) and Juro (contract management) to support accurate billing and customer queries
  • Own credit control activity, handling queries and escalations triggered through automated reminder processes

  • Manage the finance inbox and respond to queries from internal teamsMonitor bank accounts daily and perform bank reconciliations in Xero
  • Review employee expenses using tools such as Expensify / Tipalti
  • Preparing bank batch payment instructions for approval
  • Assist with monthly management accounts, including understanding of accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
  • Liaise with accounting, payments and corporate services providers internationally (US/APAC regions)
  • Suggest and implement process improvements; maintain clear process notes and SOPs to strengthen financial controls

Support the offshore outsourced partner with:

  • Accounts payable processing and timely payment of supplier invoices
  • Credit/virtual card support and monthly reconciliations

What we’re looking for

  • Finance/accounting degree (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar finance role
  • Strong hands-on experience across: AP, AR and bank reconciliations
  • Exposure to month-end journals and balance sheet basics (e.g., accruals/prepayments)
  • Comfortable using systems such as Google Workspace, Slack, Xero, and HubSpot
  • Excellent attention to detail, dependable approach, and confident communicator
  • AI fluency and an interest in improving ways of working

Nice to have (not essential)

  • SaaS/tech sector experience
  • Experience with recurring/repeating invoice functionality in Xero
  • Exposure to tools such as Tipalti, Satago, Brex, Telleroo or Stripe, and invoicing long-term customer contracts
