Technical Accounting Lead | AI Startup

Role: Technical Accounting Lead | AI Startup

Salary: £80–100k (DOE) + Benefits

Location: London (Hybrid)

We are partnering with a high-growth, Series A technology company to appoint their first dedicated technical finance hire. This is a foundational role, responsible for building and owning the company’s financial infrastructure during a period of rapid scale.

Reporting directly to a commercially driven CFO, you will take full ownership of the books, establish best-in-class financial processes, and ensure robust, IFRS-compliant reporting across multiple entities.

This position is ideal for someone who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a builder mindset. You will step into a blank-slate environment, designing and implementing scalable finance operations from the ground up, rather than inheriting legacy systems.

Over time, there is scope to expand into broader finance responsibilities, including FP&A and investor engagement, as the function evolves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of financial reporting and the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and integrity at all times
  • Rebuild and standardise financial records to create a clean, scalable foundation
  • Implement robust financial operations (FinOps) processes and internal controls
  • Deliver timely, IFRS-compliant reporting across the business
  • Lead consolidation across multiple legal entities
  • Contribute to the development of future capabilities in FP&A and investor reporting

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • Strong grounding in IFRS and technical accounting standards
  • Proven experience owning full sets of accounts with a high degree of accuracy
  • Track record managing multi-entity consolidations
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented approach with a willingness to operate at all levels
  • Self-sufficient and comfortable working in a standalone capacity
  • Strong commitment to financial precision and control

Desirable:

  • Experience in SaaS, technology, or AI-driven business models
  • Training within a leading accounting firm
  • Exposure to early-stage or scaling environments
  • Experience supporting FP&A or investor-related processes

This is a rare opportunity to shape the finance function at a pivotal stage of growth. You will work closely with an exec team , gain exposure to strategic finance, and play a central role in building a best-in-class finance operation.

The role offers significant scope for progression, including the potential to build and lead a team in the near term.
