Our client is a well-established engineering company that are now entering an exciting new phase of digital transformation, developing a bespoke in-house software platform designed to streamline operations across the business - with future plans to take the system to market.
The Role
We're seeking a talented PHP Developer to play a key role in the ongoing development and enhancement of this custom web and app-based platform. The system underpins all major operational areas of the business, including:
- Payroll and labour costings
 - CRM and job allocation
 - Operational costings
 - Diary planning and scheduling
 - Form creation and data management
 - SHEQ requirements
 - Vehicle allocation and HR functionality
 
The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and stakeholders to deliver a secure, scalable, and efficient solution that supports the business's long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, code, test, and debug bespoke software applications.
 - Maintain and enhance existing systems, identifying and implementing improvements.
 - Integrate third-party applications and ensure seamless interoperability.
 - Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and deliver timely fixes.
 - Produce clear technical documentation, including specifications and user guides.
 - Implement robust security measures and best practices.
 - Collaborate with front-end developers and non-technical stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
 - Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends.
 
Technical Skills & Experience
- Proven commercial experience as a PHP Developer.
 - Excellent knowledge of the TALL stack (Tailwind, Alpine.js, Laravel, Livewire) and LAMP stack.
 - Proficiency in PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter.
 - Experience with test-driven development (PHPUnit, feature tests, etc.).
 - Ability to manage cloud-hosted Linux servers and MySQL databases (AWS preferred).
 - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and project management tools such as JIRA.
 - React experience is beneficial
