The opportunity

A growing UK-based technology services provider is looking for a Solutions Architect to join its established Solutions Engineering function. This is a client-facing role focused on designing, validating, and presenting technical solutions across a broad range of infrastructure, cloud, and security technologies.

Working closely with sales, technical specialists, and delivery teams, you'll play a key role in shaping customer solutions from early discovery through to proposal and close. You'll combine strong technical knowledge with commercial awareness, helping customers understand how technology can solve real business challenges.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in pre-sales or technical consultancy within an MSP or IT services environment, who enjoys engaging with customers and influencing solution outcomes.

What you'll be doing
  • Deliver chargeable and non-chargeable technical pre-sales services to new and existing customers
  • Act as a trusted technical adviser throughout the sales and solution design lifecycle
  • Support sales teams during customer meetings, discovery sessions, and opportunity qualification
  • Design, articulate, and validate technical solutions aligned to customer requirements
  • Deliver clear, engaging technical presentations, demonstrations, and workshops
  • Design and deliver Proofs of Concept (POCs) and custom demonstrations
  • Evaluate and compare competing technologies to recommend best-fit solutions
  • Contribute to high-quality proposals, scopes of work, and tender responses
  • Support internal and external customer-facing events and webinars
Skills & experience
  • Experience in technical consultancy, pre-sales, or customer-facing delivery within an MSP or IT reseller (essential)
  • Strong background across IT infrastructure and IT services technologies
  • Hands-on experience with technologies such as firewalls, network security, Microsoft 365, Azure, servers, storage, backup, networking, and business continuity
  • Strong written skills with experience producing customer-facing proposals and technical documentation
  • Relevant technical certifications (e.g. Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, Microsoft, Sophos, N-able, Mimecast, Barracuda, or similar)
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical depth and business value
  • Excellent presentation, demonstration, and communication skills
  • Highly organised with strong time management capabilities
  • Ability to explain technical solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Confident relationship builder who works well alongside sales and technical teams
  • Based in the UK and willing to travel as required
  • Full, clean UK driving licence
