Product Manager

We're looking for a product owner to take our platform from its beta stage to a category-leading experience for customers. This person will own product end-to-end: shaping what we build and why, and sweating the UX and the words on the screen. They'll have a track record of owning a product or major product area end-to-end, judged by the outcomes they drove rather than the tasks they ticked off, along with a strong eye for UX paired with real copywriting and design ability.

About Tariff Tribe

Tariff Tribe (tarifftribe.co.uk) is an intelligent energy marketplace that helps UK SMEs cut their energy costs. We combine smart-meter analytics, group buying, and live supplier auctions to get businesses better tariffs than they could get alone. We're backed by Haatch Ventures and angel investors following our seed round, and we hold an Innovate UK grant funding development of a dynamic time-of-use (DToU) tariff auction platform.

We're a small, fast-moving team in the first ten hires. Everyone here owns outcomes, not just tasks.

Role description

This is a full-time hybrid role based in the UK, with flexibility for remote work. You'll own the development and release of our platform, leading cross-functional work across engineering, design, and go-to-market.

This is deliberately a broad remit. You'll own the product roadmap end-to-end — developing it in close collaboration with the commercial and operations teams to understand what customers and the business need, and consulting the founders on the bigger strategic and design calls. You'll manage the product lifecycle, run the testing, and bring strong design and copy instincts to bear on how the product actually feels to use. The role will require you to zoom in to a specific bug or a confusing onboarding flow and back out to the trajectory of the whole product, and to know which focus the moment calls for.

What you'll own

The roadmap and the outcomes. You own where the product goes and whether it gets there. You'll set and sequence the roadmap, working with commercial and operations to ground it in real requirements and looping in the founders on the larger strategic and design decisions, but the outcome is yours to own.

The user experience and how the product feels. You'll have a genuine eye for UX and the craft to improve it: spotting where a journey breaks down, where the interface adds friction, and where the copy is unclear or off-brand. You'll feed directly into the app design process — wireframes, flows, microcopy, onboarding — partnering with design and engineering rather than waiting on a brief.

Understanding user needs and testing. Build a clear, technical picture of how a user actually moves through the app, and turn what you learn into testable user stories and design specs. Plan, execute, and manage software testing end-to-end. Crucially, this role is outward-facing: you'll take the initiative to test the product with real users, not just sign off on internal QA.

Growth. Contribute to growth strategy and the experiments that prove what's working.

Qualifications and skills

  • Experience in software product management with a solid understanding of software development and the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams (minimum 3 years in a similar role).
  • Strong UX judgement together with hands-on copywriting and design skills that feed directly into the app design process.
  • Effective communication with stakeholders to extract insight and maintain interest in our solution.
  • Systematic collection of user requirements to inform product and design decisions.
  • Skillful translation of user requirements into design specifications and testable user stories and outcomes.
  • Ability to plan and manage software testing — including user recruitment — and turn it into actionable results.
  • Ability to implement and oversee a sensible project management methodology and monitor risks, costs, and deliverables.
  • Experience in energy retail or energy markets (nice to have).
  • Experience with either B2C application or to a business to small business (nice to have).
