  • Manage non-conformances from initial assessment through containment, investigation, corrective action and closure, ensuring robust records and timely resolution.
  • Support the assessment and reclaim of non-conforming parts, working with manufacturing, quality and design teams to determine technically sound and compliant dispositions.
  • Prepare and coordinate Concessions, Deviation Permit, Change Control and DAR documentation, securing the required technical approvals and maintaining clear traceability of decisions and actions.
  • Maintain accurate Quality standard updates and lead or support improvement activities using structured problem-solving, Lean methods and production data to reduce defects, waste and recurring issues.

The Role

A Continuous Improvement Engineer supports manufacturing operations by managing non-conformances, coordinating the reclaim of parts and preparing concessions, Deviation Permits (DP), Change Control and DAR documentation. The role manages non-conformance, supports timely technical disposition and approval and leads structured improvement activities to reduce defects, waste and recurring issues while improving quality, delivery and operational performance.

Your responsibilities:

  • Manage manufacturing non-conformances from initial review and containment through investigation, technical disposition, corrective action and closure.
  • Assess non-conforming parts and support reclaim decisions by reviewing drawings, specifications, inspection results and manufacturing history.
  • Prepare and coordinate Concessions, Deviation Permits, Change Control and DAR documentation, ensuring the required technical review, approval and traceability.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, design and other stakeholders to achieve timely and compliant disposition of affected parts.
  • Lead structured investigations using appropriate problem-solving methods to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities using Lean methods and production data to reduce defects, waste, process variation and recurring issues.
  • Maintain accurate quality standard updates and supporting records, ensuring actions, decisions and approvals are clearly documented.
  • Support quality reviews, process audits and compliance activities in line with AS9100, customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor non-conformance, quality and operational performance data, identify adverse trends and implement actions to improve quality, delivery and efficiency.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience managing manufacturing non-conformances, including containment, investigation, technical disposition, corrective action and closure.
  • Practical knowledge of part reclaim processes and the ability to assess non-conforming components against engineering drawings, specifications, inspection results and manufacturing requirements.
  • Experience preparing or coordinating Concessions, Deviation Permits, Change Control and DAR documentation, with clear technical justification, approval and traceability.
  • Strong structured problem-solving capability using methods such as Root Cause Analysis, 8D, 5-Why, Pareto analysis and corrective and preventive action.
  • Working knowledge of aerospace quality requirements and quality management systems, including AS9100, non-conformance control, process compliance and quality standard updates.
  • Practical experience applying Lean and continuous improvement methods to reduce defects, waste, process variation and recurring production issues.
  • Ability to analyse non-conformance, quality and operational data using manufacturing systems and tools such as MES, Teamcenter and Microsoft Excel to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, communication and prioritisation skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across manufacturing, quality, design, supply chain and other stakeholders.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Previous experience within aerospace, defence or another safety-critical, highly regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, or an equivalent qualification in continuous improvement, quality or structured problem-solving.
  • Experience applying statistical analysis, process capability, control charts or other data-led methods to identify variation and validate improvements.
  • Experience delivering cross-functional improvement projects and supporting the implementation and sustainment of manufacturing process changes.
