The Role
As an infrastructure architect, you need to have a balanced set of skills. The skills you possess will not only shape your professional career but also impact the success of the organizations you work for. Requires technical skills and soft skills that will make you an effective infrastructure architect. Possess the technical skills required to design, plan, and manage infrastructure projects.
Your Profile
Key skills/knowledge:
- Networking: you should be well-versed in networking technologies and protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, VLAN, DNS, and DHCP.
- Storage: you should have expert knowledge of storage protocols, architecture, and technologies such as SAN, NAS, RAID, and cloud storage.
- Virtualization and Cloud Computing: you should have a solid understanding of virtualization technologies and cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
- Operating Systems: you should have a strong grasp of different operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Unix, and macOS.
- Security: you should have knowledge of cybersecurity threats and measures to prevent them, such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and prevention systems.
- Moreover, you should have experience in the following technologies:
- Middleware and Application Servers: you should have a good understanding of application servers and middleware such as JBoss, WebSphere, and Tomcat.
- Web Servers and Load Balancers: you should have experience with web servers such as Apache and Nginx, as well as load balancers such as F5 and HAProxy.
- Automation Tools: you should be having fair amount of knowledge on how and when to use these automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.
- Artificial intelligence – Must have : Fair Knowledge on technologies used in developing AI solution
Key Responsibilities
- Some of your key roles and responsibilities as an Infrastructure Architect include:
- Designing and implementing IT infrastructure solutions that meet the organization’s business needs
- Ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of the organization’s IT infrastructure
- Developing and maintaining IT infrastructure policies and procedures
- Collaborating with other IT professionals, such as Application teams and network engineers, to ensure the integration of IT infrastructure solutions
- Providing technical support and guidance to extended IT teams both within and outside organization
- Designing and implementing physical and virtual server infrastructures
- Developing disaster recovery plans for IT infrastructure systems
- Implementing and maintaining cloud-based solutions, such as Private cloud, AWS or Azure
- Ability to convey the solution and seek approvals from customer’s technical design authority and other stakeholders
- Designing and implementing network infrastructure solutions, such as firewalls and VPNs
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards and security policies as defined by the organization
- Fair amount of knowledge on Legacy tools, Operating systems and approach for mitigating them
- Ability to understand, comprehend and visualize the data for effective solutioning
- Derive and deliver Legacy OS and Tools remediation approach, in line with application roadmap and environment’s roadmap
- Document the HLD, LLD and process flow from scratch for the solution being proposed
- Ability to understand the cost implications and effort calculation for the proposed solution
- Provide a rough estimation for the solution being proposed and how different it is from other solutions
- Knowledge on Artificial Intelligence and drive the AI technical team in developing use cases and test cases
