Privacy Technology Consultant

We are seeking a Privacy Technology Consultant based in either London or Leeds, who can embed privacy principles across Agile delivery and platform environments operating within a scaled agile framework. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical engineering background and the ability to translate regulatory requirements into clear, actionable, and testable user stories.

This role requires someone who can assess and challenge technical designs for privacy compliance, incorporate non-functional requirements (NFRs) into agile workflows, and support teams in adopting privacy-preserving engineering practices such as data minimization, anonymization, and consent management.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Product, Solution Management, and Architecture teams, act as a subject-matter expert during privacy incidents, and ensure that privacy risks are identified, communicated, and addressed throughout delivery cycles.

Responsibilities

  • Operate within a scaled agile environment, embedded into Agile Release Trains and Solution Trains.
  • Consume upstream NFRs and translate them into epics, features, and acceptance criteria.
  • Inspect and challenge technical plans, designs, and implementations for privacy adherence.
  • Translate regulatory guidance into clear, testable user stories and acceptance tests.
  • Support planning events by highlighting privacy risks and ensuring NFRs are accounted for; validate delivery outputs.
  • Act as the privacy incident SME for delivery and platform teams.
  • Coach teams on privacy-preserving engineering patterns (e.g., data minimization, anonymization, consent tooling).

Eligibility Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Engineering background covering areas such as data pipelines, APIs, SDKs, tracking systems, and consent tooling.
  • Practical understanding of regulatory expectations with the ability to identify risks and escalate appropriately.
  • Experience embedding NFRs and BDD practices into agile workflows.
  • Systems thinking across platforms, solutions, and third-party vendors.
  • Strong collaboration skills with Product, Architects, and Solution Management.
  • Ability to contribute to risk discussions, inspections, and continuous improvement ceremonies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience applying structured problem-solving frameworks (e.g., root-cause analysis, Six Sigma, Design Thinking).
  • Certifications in Agile, Project Management, or Analytics (nice to have).
