Data Architect | Outside IR35 Contract

Location: Cambridge (Hybrid – 2 days onsite)

Contract: 6 Months Initial Term

TechNET IT has partnered with a leading global education and assessment organisation supporting millions of learners worldwide. As part of a significant multi-year transformation programme, they are building a new generation of platforms to support end-to-end exam delivery and are seeking an experienced Data Architect to help shape the future-state data landscape.

This is a greenfield opportunity to define and implement the data architecture strategy across a distributed systems environment, ensuring operational excellence while enabling data governance, analytics, and long-term data reuse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define scalable, secure, and fit-for-purpose data architecture for critical operational processes.

• Establish data storage, integration, and modelling standards across the programme.

• Drive architectural decisions around APIs, Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture, and modern data platforms.

• Partner with programme architects, engineering teams, business stakeholders, and SMEs to translate requirements into practical solutions.

• Promote data governance, standardisation, and reuse through a hybrid Data Mesh approach.

• Support data engineering teams throughout implementation and delivery.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Data Architecture within complex distributed systems.

• Domain-Driven Design (DDD).

• Microservices Architecture.

• Event-Driven Architecture.

• Data Modelling and Data Mesh principles.

• Medallion Architecture.

• Modern Integration Patterns, APIs, and Data Contracts.

• Structured and Unstructured Data Processing.

• Data Privacy, Security, and Access Management.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
