The Role:

As a TUPE Consultant, you will lead transfer activities for major TUPE projects and programmes, collaborating closely with sales and delivery teams on transition planning, people takeovers, and project execution. You will also manage large-scale and complex restructuring exercises, including those involving pension benefit complexities.

Your responsibilities:

  • This role will specifically sit within a large People Transition and Change Management team within the UK and Ireland business.
  • Be responsible for managing all TUPE and employee relations activities for projects and programmes, including handling TUPE-ins and TUPE-outs, managing staff transfers, leading consultations, presenting to the customer, engaging with customer HR and incumbent suppliers, and accurately costing restructuring exercises.
  • Developing a progressive, business focussed ER strategy that meets the current and future needs of the project.
  • Regularly providing up to date and accurate UK employment law and employee relations advice on a range of topics, including complex or sensitive matters.
  • Identifying and analysing options, ensuring the most workable, appropriate and commercially beneficial initiative or intervention is considered, planned and subsequently implemented where necessary.
  • End to end management and direction of all employee relations casework both individually (disciplinary, grievances, harassment/bullying claims) and collective (restructuring, redundancy, group grievances).
  • Conducting investigations on complex and sensitive matters for TUPE and restructuring programmes.
  • Managing all potential legal threats and risks effectively ensuring that both the business reputation and brand is fully protected.
  • Develop and manage relationships with internal stakeholders (such as directors and employee bodies) and external partners, including trade union officials, legal counsel, and occupational health providers.
  • Prepare and issue all legally compliant documentation accurately and on time, ensuring it is thoroughly checked before being shared with the relevant parties.
  • Ensuring that all records and documentation relating to employee relations and employment law are maintained, up to date and stored correctly for the project.
  • Training managers and other individuals in TUPE, transitions, TUPE-outs, employee relations, employment law and change management as needed on the project.
  • Undertaking and performing any such similar tasks and duties in line with the nature and purpose of the role.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • In depth knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations, particularly with regards to TUPE, redundancy, restructuring/reorganisation, dismissals and grievances.
  • A working and practical knowledge of TUPE principles and regulations.
  • Able to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Ability to effectively apply knowledge in practical workplace situations.
  • Skilled in managing interpersonal dynamics, including conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, overcoming resistance, and demonstrating sensitivity.
  • Highly focused and determined, with a proven ability to deliver results and overcome challenges despite obstacles.
