Senior Software Engineer
Senior Software Engineer | AI-Native Vertical SaaS | Seed Stage | London
£120,000 + Equity | 3 days in office | Backed by top-tier European VCs
I'm running a search for the founding Senior Software Engineer at a seed-stage AI-native company taking on one of the UK's largest, oldest and most operationally broken professional services markets.
They've raised £2M from two of Europe's best early-stage funds (the kind who've backed Moneybox, Exotec and Thought Machine between them).
The thesis is straightforward: this industry hasn't been transformed by tech, and when it is, the winning model won't be incumbents bolting software onto legacy workflows.
It'll be a technology company that happens to be regulated. The first vertical alone is a market measured in billions. There's a clear path to others beyond it.
The product is a network of specialised AI agents handling the document review, drafting, communication and workflow orchestration that today eats up most of a qualified professional's day, with human oversight at the regulated checkpoints.
The architectural ambition is high, the technical problem is genuinely hard, and the timeline is aggressive.
What you'd own:
- Platform architecture: state machine, workflow engine, API layer, data model
- Infrastructure, deployments, CI/CD, scaling from launch to commercial scale
- Security and compliance posture for a regulated business: encryption, access controls, audit logging, penetration testing
- AI agent pipelines and orchestration
- Internal tooling that the company's domain experts actually use day to day
You probably:
- Have 5+ years building production software, strong backend emphasis
- Are fluent in Python and TypeScript, with React/Next.js on the frontend
- Have worked on AI agent orchestration in production (LangGraph, OpenAI Agent SDK, or similar)
- Have made architectural calls on platforms that needed to be reliable and secure, not just functional
- Have shipped in regulated or security-sensitive contexts before, or have the judgement to learn fast
- Want real ownership at a stage where the architectural decisions you make will define the company
The setup:
- Founders have a track record of building one of the UK's best-known modern consumer brands. They've done the hard bit before. They're not first-time operators learning on the job.
- Senior advisor with two decades of credibility in the regulated industry the company is entering
- Strong domain expertise on the regulated side already in place
- Small senior team, no layers, direct working relationship with the founders
- 18 months runway, aggressive roadmap, growth strategy beyond the first vertical
The basics:
- £120,000 base, plus equity
- London, 3 days in office
- Full UK work rights required (no sponsorship available)
