Technical Lead
Technical Lead > Future Head of Engineering for a London AI Transformation Consultancy
I'm hiring exclusively for a Technical Lead at an AI transformation consultancy that was built from nothing five years ago, with no external funding and no investors.
What started as a one-man operation has grown into a profitable, respected firm whose clients now include the NHS, Legal & General, and Network Rail. They earned that roster entirely on the quality of their work.
This team designs the AI strategy, redesigns the workflows around it, and then builds and deploys the systems. They stay in the room until the thing works.
Recent projects include an AI programme for NHS England that identified 90,000 unnecessary diagnostic appointments that could be eliminated, and a contract redaction platform for a major transport client that cut processing time from four hours to five minutes per document.
This one is different to most Technical Lead roles in the market.
From day one you will be deployed on live client engagements two days a week, going into complex organisations and building AI systems that actually ship.
Alongside that, you will raise the standard of how the current engineering team operates - leading from the front through the quality of what you build, helping others upskill alongside you, and establishing the coding practices and delivery playbooks the team builds on.
You will also have a seat in product and GTM conversations with the SLT. The trajectory, as the business scales, is toward Head of Engineering.
The right person has:
- 5-10 years of engineering experience with a track record of projects that actually shipped
- Strong Python, TypeScript, React/Next.js, Azure, Azure AI Foundry, and agentic workflow tooling
- A history of stepping into a leading role on a project or team, with or without the title
- Commercial and product instinct they can evidence from professional or personal projects
- A consultancy, agency, or client-facing background - or a background that translates well
£85-95k base, quarterly bonus against OKRs, a revenue share scheme, plus there will be equity to be discussed later down the line.
