Scalable System Lead

Techniche Global are supporting a leading defence and security business with sites across the UK. Supporting them with appointing an experienced IT Infrastructure & Virtualisation Systems Engineer for a Team Leader role at their defence site in Gosport, Hampshire. The position is titled Scalable Systems Team Lead.

This is a permanent position and the chosen candidate will operate in a Hybrid role with weekly site presence expected on site with the team.
An exciting and unique role, you will lead a small team on cutting-edge technologies, configuring and implementing Linux based HPC environments to maximum performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day, you’ll lead a team and be responsible for developing and growing their IT and HPC skills in line with the requirements of the business.
• Your work will facilitate delivering projects with the Ministry of Defence in to the design of future platforms.
• You will be supported by a Chief Engineer and a team of Scientists, expected to grow and maintain this system over the coming years.

The HPC infrastructure and capability that they have in place and are continuing to develop are used by the MOD to tackle complex calculations. They also provide the use of their HPC systems to other defence and commercial customers; essentially building a supercomputer infrastructure that will solve some of the most complex calculations in the R&D field.
Skills:

• Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) or High Performance Computing (HPC) environments will be key with an understanding of Linux operating and administration systems.
• Previous HPC experience is not essential, the business are open to candidates that have Virtualisation (VDI) exposure and knowledge of configuring Linux / RedHat / Abunto systems, networks and infrastructure.

The role has a flexible salary range circa £65-75,000 plus benefits dependant on experience and you must be able to obtain security clearance.
