Senior Sql Database Administrator

The Client

We are working with a well-established European investment firm with a strong reputation across research, execution, and asset services to appoint a SQL Server / DBA to support a mission-critical investment platform.

This role sits within a highly regarded technology team supporting front-to-back systems, including SimCorp Dimension, where database performance, stability, and resilience are critical to business operations.

The Opportunity

A high-impact position focused on the ownership and optimisation of SQL Server environments underpinning core investment workflows. You will play a central role in ensuring data integrity, performance tuning, and high availability across a complex, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration (Core Focus)

  • Own and manage Microsoft SQL Server environments across DEV/UAT/PROD
  • Deliver core DBA activities: backups, restores, indexing, integrity checks
  • Lead on performance tuning and query optimisation for business-critical systems
  • Support and enhance high availability solutions (Always On, clustering, log shipping)
  • Monitor database health, growth, and capacity planning
  • Maintain robust security and access controls, including encryption

SimCorp & Application Support

  • Support SimCorp Dimension with a strong focus on database performance and reliability
  • Troubleshoot batch processing, data flows, and system integrations
  • Collaborate with application and business teams to optimise system throughput

Infrastructure Engineering (Supporting Scope)

  • Contribute to Windows Server and virtualised platform management
  • Support patching, security, and resilience initiatives
  • Assist with backup, disaster recovery, and continuity planning

Candidate Profile

  • Strong experience in SQL Server DBA / database engineering roles
  • Proven track record in performance optimisation within enterprise systems
  • Experience with SimCorp Dimension is highly advantageous
  • Solid understanding of high availability and resilience architectures
  • Background within financial services or regulated environments preferred
