Project Delivery Manager

Project Delivery Manager

Location: UK-based remote role with occasional UK travel and limited international travel.

Salary: £45,000 - £60,000, depending on skills and experience.

Reporting to: Head of Delivery.

At Tended, we design and deliver first-of-a-kind systems that harness some of the most advanced technologies available to transform the way our client organisations operate. Our flagship geofencing solution has received significant recognition, including being named among TIME’s Best Inventions and featured on the Digital Leaders 100 list for Geospatial Initiative of the Year.

As a venture-backed scale-up, we are building a high-performing team united by a clear mission: to modernise safety and efficiency across the rail industry and ensure every worker returns home safely. We partner with leading organisations across the sector, enhancing traditional processes and embedding digital innovation into complex operational environments.

With continued growth and an expanding portfolio of programmes, we are now seeking an experienced Project Delivery Manager to join our team. Acting as the right hand to our Head of Delivery, this individual will work across multiple projects and programmes, ensuring coordinated execution, driving cross-functional alignment, and embedding best-practice delivery standards.

Beyond programme oversight, the role will play a key part in driving operational change - refining and designing processes, improving delivery governance and assurance, and strengthening scalability as we grow. This represents an exceptional opportunity to operate at the heart of a scaling technology business, working closely with senior leadership and helping shape how delivery evolves as the company expands. This is a high-impact position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced scale-up environment and is motivated by building structure, clarity and momentum across complex initiatives.

What we’re looking for

We are seeking an exceptional, delivery-driven Project Delivery Manager to work closely with our Head of Delivery as a trusted partner, taking ownership of project and programme planning, coordination, assurance and providing structured delivery support.

Operating within a fast-paced and evolving scale-up environment, your primary focus will be to bring clarity, control and forward planning across multiple programmes. You will translate strategic objectives into robust delivery plans, define and sequence workstreams, manage dependencies, track progress, and ensure risks and issues are surfaced early and managed effectively.

You will be highly task-oriented and detail-focused, with a strong instinct for structure and accountability. Comfortable working across multiple concurrent initiatives, you will maintain visibility across timelines, deliverables and stakeholders - ensuring delivery remains aligned, well-paced and predictable. You should be confident producing structured plans, clear reporting, and concise updates that enable informed decision-making.

A core part of the role is providing delivery assurance and support - helping the Head of Delivery maintain oversight, manage priorities, and ensure commitments are met. You will bring discipline to planning cadence, governance and tracking, creating consistency and reliability in how work is executed.

In addition to this primary focus, you will contribute to the ongoing evolution of our delivery function. As we scale, there will be opportunities to design and strengthen processes, refine ways of working and introduce improvements that enhance efficiency and resilience. However, the immediate priority is strong programme planning, coordination and delivery execution.

An understanding of the UK railway industry is highly desirable, but not essential. Above all, we are looking for exceptional, driven individuals with strong project discipline, analytical thinking and the motivation to take ownership in a growing technology business.

The role will include occasional travel across the UK (and limited international travel) to support stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, planning and programme alignment.

We are looking for someone dependable, proactive and highly organised - a person who brings structure to complexity, maintains momentum across multiple workstreams, and enables delivery leadership to operate at their best.

Essential

  • Proven experience in project and programme planning, coordination and delivery assurance, with the ability to maintain oversight across multiple concurrent workstreams and ensuring commitments are met.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives into structured, actionable delivery plans, including defining workstreams, managing dependencies, sequencing activity and tracking progress against milestones.
  • Strong governance and reporting capability, with experience implementing planning cadence, risk and issue management, status reporting, and structured stakeholder updates.
  • A highly task-driven and detail-oriented mindset, with the discipline to break down complex initiatives, clarify ownership, follow through on actions, and maintain delivery momentum across cross-functional teams.
  • Confidence working closely with senior stakeholders, providing structured support, clear visibility of progress, and well-evidenced recommendations to enable informed decision-making.
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, evolving environments, demonstrating adaptability, resilience and the ability to introduce clarity and structure where processes may still be maturing.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Jira or similar) and strong competency in producing clear documentation, plans and concise written reporting.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, take ownership, and operate as a trusted delivery partner to senior leadership.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across the UK (with occasional international travel) to support programme alignment and stakeholder engagement. A full UK driving licence is required.

Desirable

  • Experience operating in a scale-up or high-growth technology business, particularly where delivery processes were still evolving and required strengthening.
  • Exposure to programme-level oversight, supporting senior delivery leadership with portfolio visibility, prioritisation and cross-programme coordination.
  • Track-record in delivery improvement and developing maturity, with experience implementing or improving delivery frameworks, including reporting cadence, risk management structures, stage gates and change control processes.
  • Background in regulated, safety-critical or infrastructure-heavy sectors (such as rail, transport, utilities, construction or defence), where structured planning and assurance are essential.
  • Formal project management training or certification (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, PMP) or equivalent delivery experience.
