AI Enviornment & Cloud Engineer - London - £90-100k
Please note - this role will require you to attend the Central London office a minimum of 3 days per week.
Our client is a leading Lloyd's of London market broker currently investing heavily in both cloud technology and AI enablement across the business. With a modern Microsoft-centric technology estate and ambitious growth plans, they are seeking an experienced AI Environments & Cloud Engineer to help build, secure and optimise the cloud infrastructure that underpins the organisation's next generation AI capabilities.
This is a highly visible role within a fast-paced, stakeholder-driven environment, offering the opportunity to work directly with senior business leaders and technology teams on strategic initiatives.
The Role
As an AI Environments & Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, managing and enhancing cloud environments that support both business-critical applications and emerging AI technologies.
Working within a lean and highly capable infrastructure team, you'll be expected to take ownership across a broad range of cloud and infrastructure responsibilities, helping to securely integrate AI solutions into the organisation's technology landscape.
This is not a traditional infrastructure position focused on maintaining legacy environments. Instead, we're looking for a cloud-first engineer with deep Azure expertise, strong Infrastructure-as-Code capabilities and a genuine interest in enabling AI at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain secure cloud infrastructure across Azure environments.
- Support the deployment, integration and operationalisation of AI technologies across the business.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform.
- Ensure cloud platforms remain secure, scalable, resilient and cost-effective.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Support cloud governance, security and best practice initiatives.
- Collaborate with technology teams across infrastructure, data, security and AI functions.
- Provide expertise around modern cloud architecture and AI platform readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement across cloud operations and engineering practices.
Required Experience
Essential:
- Significant hands-on experience working within Microsoft Azure environments.
- Strong cloud engineering or infrastructure engineering background.
- Proven experience implementing and managing infrastructure using Terraform.
- Deep understanding of cloud-native technologies and modern cloud architectures.
- Experience supporting cloud-based platforms rather than predominantly on-premise environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively within a fast-moving, high-pressure business environment.
- Experience engaging directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desireable
- Exposure to AWS environments.
- Experience supporting AI, machine learning or generative AI initiatives.
- Experience integrating AI solutions into enterprise environments.
- Understanding of security considerations relating to AI deployment and adoption.
- Knowledge of Microsoft technologies including Entra ID and broader Microsoft cloud services.
- Exposure to GCP, although this is not a primary requirement.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for a cloud-first Infrastructure Engineer who combines strong Azure expertise with modern engineering practices and an interest in AI technologies.
You'll be someone who:
- Thrives in a hands-on, varied environment.
- Enjoys owning problems and delivering solutions.
- Can confidently engage with senior stakeholders.
- Understands how to securely enable AI within an enterprise environment.
- Has extensive Azure experience and can leverage Terraform to automate and manage cloud infrastructure.
- Is comfortable working across multiple areas of technology rather than specialising in a single domain.
Working Enviornment
This organisation operates a collaborative, office-centric culture. Candidates must be comfortable working from the London office a minimum of three days per week.
The environment is:
- Fast-paced
- Highly visible
- Stakeholder-facing
- Delivery-focused
- Technically progressive
Individuals seeking a purely remote role or a low-change environment are unlikely to be a good fit.
Package
- Salary up to £100,000 (with flexibility for exceptional candidates)
- 20% Annual Bonus
- Hybrid working (minimum 3 days per week in office)
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud and AI initiatives within a leading Lloyd's market organisation
- Significant exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic technology programmes
