Azure Data Engineer

Location: London (Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite)Contract Length: Initial 6 months Day Rate: Flexible (Inside & Outside IR35 rates considered - IR35 status TBD)

We're supporting a client looking to engage a hands-on Azure Data Engineer on a contract basis. This is a mid to senior level opportunity, suited to someone who enjoys balancing project delivery with BAU and isn't afraid to get stuck in technically.

You'll be instrumental in delivering and supporting data solutions within Azure, working across pipeline development, cloud migration, and reporting readiness.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

• Building and maintaining data pipelines using Azure Data Factory
• Supporting BAU data engineering activities and resolving issues
• Playing a key role in the migration of SQL Server environments to Azure
• Preparing, transforming, and structuring data for analytics and reporting
• Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure data quality, accessibility, and performance
• Occasionally designing and developing Power BI reports

• Strong hands-on experience across the Azure data ecosystem
• Proven expertise with:
  • Azure Data Factory (ADF)
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • SQL (T-SQL, optimisation, data modelling)
  • Python for data engineering tasks
• Experience delivering on-prem to Azure cloud migrations
• Solid grasp of data warehousing and ETL/ELT principles
• Exposure to Power BI reporting
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on contract environment

• Experience in environments combining project work and BAU support
• Knowledge of modern Azure data architectures (e.g. lakehouse)
• Awareness of data governance and best practices
