Data Architect

Up to £120,000

We are seeking a Data Architect to act as a subject matter expert in building and scaling modern data platforms within the Environmental Services sector. This is a high-impact role focused on designing, evolving and delivering enterprise-grade data platforms on Azure.

You will take ownership of an end-to-end data domain currently undergoing a multi-year transformation, helping to uplift legacy platforms into a modern, federated data architecture. This includes working on a 2-year roadmap to rebuild and optimise the platform using a range of cloud-native technologies.

The role requires a hands-on architect who can define the architecture and data strategy while actively supporting engineering teams in delivery. You will play a key role in modernising data capabilities, improving data quality and enabling scalable analytics through robust platform design.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the architecture and delivery of a modern data platform on Azure
  • Define and implement a scalable, federated data architecture aligned to business strategy
  • Drive adoption of best-practice architectural patterns including Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers)
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data models and master data management frameworks
  • Work hands-on with engineering teams to guide implementation and ensure architectural integrity
  • Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements and align on data strategy
  • Present architectural designs and recommendations to senior stakeholders

Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience as a hands-on Data Architect within complex enterprise environments
  • Proven track record of building and modernising data platforms, ideally within Azure
  • Deep understanding of modern data architecture patterns, including federated architectures and data-as-a-product concepts
  • Experience with large-scale data processing and data pipeline development

What's on Offer

  • Salary up to £120,000
  • Remote first working - occasional visits to HQ for workshops (on average once per month)
  • Opportunity to lead the build of a modern, enterprise-scale data platform within environmental services
  • Exposure to cutting-edge Azure data technologies and architecture practices
