Data Engineer - Manchester (Hybrid) - Microsoft Fabric - Up to £55,000

We're partnering with a highly successful, private equity-backed organisation that is making significant investment in its data and analytics capabilities. As part of a business-wide transformation programme, they are building a modern Microsoft Fabric platform from the ground up and are looking for a Data Engineer to play a key role in shaping its future.

This is an exciting opportunity to join at the start of a greenfield data journey where Microsoft Fabric sits at the heart of the organisation's long-term data strategy. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders to design, build and optimise a scalable enterprise data platform, enabling advanced analytics, self-service reporting and data-driven decision making across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

As part of a growing data function, you will:

• Design and develop scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric
• Build and maintain Fabric Data Factory pipelines, Dataflow Gen2 processes, and Fabric Notebooks
• Develop and optimise end-to-end ELT/ETL workflows within a Fabric Lakehouse environment
• Work with OneLake, Lakehouse architecture, and modern data engineering best practices
• Utilise PySpark, SQL and Databricks for complex data transformation and engineering workloads
• Create robust data ingestion, orchestration and monitoring processes
• Support the development of enterprise-wide analytics solutions and Power BI semantic models
• Drive data quality, governance and security initiatives across the platform
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver strategic data solutions
• Contribute to the future roadmap and adoption of Microsoft Fabric across the organisation

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer within cloud-based data environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Data Factory, Dataflows, Notebooks and Lakehouse solutions
• Experience building and supporting production-grade ELT/ETL pipelines
• Strong skills in PySpark and SQL
• Experience working with OneLake, Delta formats or modern Lakehouse architectures
• Exposure to Databricks and distributed data processing environments
• Understanding of data modelling, governance and optimisation principles
• Experience delivering data solutions that support analytics, reporting and business intelligence
• Passion for modern Microsoft data technologies and data platform innovation
