Data Lead - Inside IR35 - Hybrid

OverviewWe are looking for an experienced Data Lead with a strong Insurance and Delegate Authority (DA) background to support data-driven initiatives across financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and data warehouse projects. This role will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to define requirements, translate business rules into data solutions, and ensure high-quality, well-governed data outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture, analyse, and document business definitions, rules, and data lineage across insurance data domains

  • Own and deliver source-to-target mappings, including both business and technical metadata

  • Work closely with stakeholders to define user stories, product backlog items, and acceptance criteria

  • Support financial reporting and regulatory compliance requirements within the insurance domain

  • Contribute to data warehouse initiatives, including requirements gathering, validation, and testing

  • Collaborate with data engineers and architects to ensure accurate data modelling and implementation

  • Use SQL and Excel to perform data analysis, validation, and reconciliation

  • Produce clear documentation and present insights to business and technical audiences

Must Have

  • 3-4 years' experience working with Delegate Authority (DA)

  • Strong insurance industry background

  • Proven experience capturing and interpreting business definitions, rules, and data lineage

  • Hands-on experience owning source-to-target mappings, including business and technical metadata

  • Familiarity with financial reporting and insurance regulatory compliance

  • Ability to write high-quality user stories, product backlog items, and acceptance criteria

  • Basic SQL querying skills

  • Strong Excel skills and confidence producing presentations for stakeholders

  • Experience working on data warehouse projects

  • Basic knowledge of Azure and Databricks (advantageous)

Desirable

  • Understanding of Lloyd's market operations and syndicate structures

  • Experience working within Finance or Actuarial areas

  • Experience in relational and dimensional data modelling, including:

    • Normalisation

    • Defining relationships between entities
