Expert Data Modeller - Hybrid - Permanent - Lloyd's of London experience required

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Modeller with deep expertise in the Lloyd's of London insurance market. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising complex data models that support underwriting, claims, pricing, and regulatory reporting processes.

This role requires a strong understanding of London Market insurance data structures, market-specific standards, and advanced data architecture principles. The Data Modeller will play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making while ensuring alignment with industry regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities

Data Modelling & Architecture

  • Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models supporting insurance systems and analytics platforms.

  • Ensure alignment with Lloyd's market standards, including the Core Data Record (CDR) and Lloyd's Blueprint Two initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data governance artefacts.

  • Collaborate with enterprise architecture teams to ensure consistency across the data ecosystem.


Data Integration & Transformation

  • Work with business analysts, actuaries, and IT teams to integrate data from multiple insurance sources including:

    • Policy administration systems

    • Claims platforms

    • Bordereaux submissions

    • Exposure and catastrophe modelling datasets

  • Design and optimise data pipelines and transformation logic to support reporting, analytics, and regulatory submissions.

  • Support the development of scalable data warehousing and reporting architectures.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with underwriters, brokers, actuaries, and market participants to capture and translate business data requirements.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on Lloyd's market data standards and processes.

  • Facilitate workshops to define data structures supporting underwriting, claims, and operational reporting.


Data Quality & Compliance

  • Implement data quality frameworks, validation rules, and reconciliation processes.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and market requirements including Solvency II and General Data Protection Regulation.

  • Support regulatory reporting and market submissions through robust and auditable data structures.


Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

  • 15+ years of experience in data modelling within the London Market insurance sector, particularly within Lloyd's of London environments.

  • Strong expertise in:

    • Entity-Relationship (ER) modelling

    • Relational and dimensional modelling

    • Data warehousing architectures

  • Advanced SQL development skills.

  • Hands-on experience with data modelling tools such as:

    • ERwin

    • PowerDesigner

    • Similar enterprise modelling tools.
