Head of Data - Consultancy (Contract, Likely to Go Perm)

Location: UK (Hybrid - 2-3 days per week onsite)
Day Rate: £700/day (Inside IR35)
Contract Length: 6 months (with strong potential to convert to permanent)
Permanent Salary: Negotiable

About the Role:
A rapidly growing consultancy has secured several major projects and is now looking to build a new data team from the ground up. They need an experienced Head of Data to define the data strategy, lead delivery, and establish best practices across multiple engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and own the data strategy for client projects.
• Build and lead a high-performing data engineering and analytics team.
• Define architecture standards and ensure scalable, secure solutions.
• Act as the primary client contact for all data-related initiatives.
• Drive innovation using cloud technologies and modern data platforms.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience in a Head of Data, Data Director, or similar leadership role.
• Strong background in data engineering, architecture, and analytics.
• Expertise in Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake (experience with GCP or AWS is a bonus).
• Familiarity with modern data stack and best practices for data governance.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
