Head of Engineering Web, software, Data
I'm working with a tech company seeking an accomplished engineering leader to oversee multiple technical teams and drive the evolution of their large-scale, AI-enabled platform.
You'll lead engineering across data, backend, web, ML, QA and DevOps. This role blends strategic direction with hands-on leadership, especially around distributed processing, ML operations and AI-assisted development practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Own engineering delivery and roadmap
- Guide architecture across data pipelines, ML systems, and web platforms
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and strong engineering standards
- Build, mentor, and scale a multi-discipline engineering organisation
- Work closely with Product, Data Science and DevOps on cross-team delivery
- Contribute to long-term technology strategy and platform evolution
Required Skillset
- Led multi-team engineering groups (20+ engineers)
- Strong background in distributed systems & large-scale data pipelines
- Experience with ML production environments
- Familiarity with modern data stacks and cloud-native setups (e.g., Spark, AWS)
- Understanding of TypeScript/React or similar front-end environments
- Solid DevOps exposure (CI/CD, containers, observability)
- Strong leadership, communication, and delivery execution
- Experience with web scraping related projects
Nice to Have: Search/ad-tech exposure, ML platform tooling, agentic/AI-supported coding experience.
Location - Remote (UK based candidate only)
Salary - up to £150000 pa
