Lead Data Scientist (London Area)

A growing Consultancy are looking for a Lead Data Scientist to join their expanding Data team – this is a hybrid role, requiring around 2-3 days per week either in the office or on client site, depending on requirements.

Many of their clients are in the Public Sector, meaning you must be eligible for SC Clearance in order to apply for this role.

In this role, you will lead on the delivery of client projects – you’ll proactively identify opportunities for data science to be used to help solve their unique challenges, provide subject matter expertise, and will lead on the development and implementation of appropriate solutions.

This will involve working with varied data sources, and designing and implementing various data science and machine learning techniques and algorithms, both on-premises and on the cloud (e.g. on Azure, AWS or GCP), depending on what’s best for each particular client.

You’ll communicate your findings and insight to the client, getting involved in presentations to uncover the “story” the data is telling, and therefore what action can be taken - giving real meaning to your work.

This role would be well-suited to someone who has experience (or is keen to get experience) in a client-facing environment, and who enjoys the challenge of working on technically demanding and diverse projects.

Requirements

  • Experience leading on data science projects
  • Experience working on cloud-based infrastructure e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP
  • Extensive coding skills in languages such as Python and SQL
  • Experience working with various forms of data (e.g. structured, unstructured; text, time-series and image) and appropriately modelling these
  • Experience with various statistical-based techniques to uncover data insight
  • Experience with Data Engineering e.g. building data pipelines
  • Experience developing machine learning algorithms
  • Excellent communication and requirements gathering skills
  • Experience working for a consultancy is desirable but not essential
  • Eligibility for SC Clearance

Benefits

  • Salary up to £75,000 depending on experience
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • 5 days annual training leave with dedicated training budget
  • 3 days volunteering leave
  • Private health insurance
  • Pension with 5% employer contribution
