Senior Cloud/Platform Engineer
Senior Cloud / Platform Infrastructure Engineer
Permanent | London (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
We’re hiring a Senior Cloud Infrastructure / Platform Engineer to help design, build, and operate a highly available, Kubernetes‐based platform running real‐time, mission‐critical systems.
This is a hands‐on, senior‐level role for someone with a strong background across architecture, delivery, and build, who has worked closely with software engineers in small, high‐ownership teams. You’ll have real influence over how the platform is designed and evolved, not just how it’s operated.
If you enjoy owning complex systems end‐to‐end, care deeply about reliability and performance, and are comfortable making technical decisions that scale - this role will suit you.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing, building, and owning AWS‐based infrastructure using Terraform and Kubernetes
- Leading the evolution of a Kubernetes‐first platform (EKS), including networking, ingress, scaling, and security
- Building platform capabilities that enable engineers to ship safely and autonomously (CI/CD, observability, environments)
- Debugging production systems across Kubernetes, cloud services, networking, and application layers
- Improving reliability, visibility, and operational standards across a distributed system
- Setting and enforcing best practices across infrastructure, delivery, and platform engineering
What we’re looking for
- Strong experience in cloud infrastructure / platform engineering
- Deep Kubernetes experience in production environments (EKS, Helm, ingress, scaling strategies, hardening)
- Proven ability to design and deliver systems, not just operate them
- Comfortable working in small teams with high autonomy and accountability
- Solid AWS background (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS)
- Infrastructure‐as‐Code mindset (Terraform or similar)
- Confident troubleshooting complex, distributed production systems
Nice to have (not essential)
- Experience building internal developer platforms or self‐service tooling
- Exposure to Kafka, Postgres, Redis, or similar data infrastructure
- Experience operating in security‐ or compliance‐sensitive environments
- Background in high‐throughput, low‐latency, or real‐time systems
Why this role
- Genuine ownership of critical infrastructure
- High technical bar, low bureaucracy
- Real platform engineering, not ticket‐driven DevOps
- Opportunity to influence architecture and long‐term technical direction
- Work on systems where performance, reliability, and correctness matter
If you’re a senior engineer who enjoys designing platforms, building them properly, and owning them in production, this is worth a conversation.
