Senior Data Engineer - London (Hybrid) - Databricks - Up to £80,000

A fast-growing analytics and data-led organisation within the entertainment space is continuing to invest heavily in its data platform as demand scales. Data sits at the centre of how this business drives commercial performance, insight and strategic decision-making, they're building out a modern, cloud-native data architecture to support that growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer who wants to shape Databricks-based solutions, influence architectural direction, playing a key role in setting engineering standards.

What you'll be doing

• Designing and evolving scalable, resilient data platforms and pipelines
• Owning technical decisions and contributing to long-term platform strategy
• Improving performance, security, governance and cost efficiency across the data estate
• Acting as a technical leader within the team, mentoring engineers and raising standards
• Driving adoption of modern patterns including streaming, event-driven and distributed architectures

What we're looking for

• Strong experience with distributed data architectures (Lambda / Kappa)
• Advanced data modelling expertise (star & snowflake schemas, SCD Types 1-3, fact optimisation)
• Deep understanding of lakehouse patterns (Bronze / Silver / Gold) and data mesh principles
• Proven experience defining data contracts, cataloguing standards and observability practices
• Strong background in performance tuning and cloud cost optimisation
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, S3 and Athena
• Deep knowledge of the AWS data engineering ecosystem
• Comfortable working in Agile environments (Jira, Confluence)
• A leadership mindset with the ability to influence, mentor and set best practice
