An exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Data Engineering Manager to step into a high-impact leadership role within a growing Data & AI environment. This position is responsible for leading globally distributed engineering teams and third-party partners, ensuring the delivery of robust, scalable, and high-quality platform solutions.

You'll play a key role in bringing alignment, structure, and consistency across engineering practices, while working within a modern Microsoft technology stack including Azure, Databricks, Fabric, Power Platform, SharePoint, and Azure DevOps. The focus is on creating a high-performing engineering function that delivers reliably and continuously improves.

Key Responsibilities Engineering Leadership & Delivery
  • Lead multiple engineering teams across data platforms, Power Platform, and collaboration technologies.
  • Establish clear delivery frameworks, including sprint planning, backlog management, and consistent release cycles.
  • Drive engineering standards to ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability across all solutions.
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with IT, product, and transformation teams to align priorities and ensure smooth delivery.
  • Remove blockers and foster strong cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support the development of a data-driven culture across the organisation.
People Management & Development
  • Coach and mentor engineering managers and team leads.
  • Build internal capability through structured development, feedback, and training initiatives.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
Vendor & Service Oversight
  • Manage third-party delivery partners to ensure performance, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee service transitions into production and ensure stable ongoing operations.
  • Support and strengthen L2/L3 support models.
Continuous Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to optimise tools, processes, and delivery practices.
  • Champion best practice across Azure, Databricks, Fabric, and the wider engineering ecosystem.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including managing team leaders or managers.
  • Strong delivery background across multiple agile squads, with a focus on predictable and consistent outcomes.
  • Experience operating within multi-vendor environments.
  • Solid working knowledge of:
    • Azure
    • Databricks / Fabric
    • Power Apps & Power Automate
    • SharePoint
    • Azure DevOps
  • Experience managing service transition and operational support frameworks.
  • Track record of scaling and maturing engineering functions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
Desirable
  • Microsoft certifications (Azure, Power Platform)
  • Agile or programme delivery certifications (Scrum, SAFe, Lean, etc.)
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
