Software Architect- Telford (£600/d Inside IR35, contract till end of December)
Location: Hybrid – Telford or Worthing
On‐site: Occasional workshops (typically 1–2 days per month)
Security Clearance: Active SC Clearance required (transferable to HMRC)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Architect to join the Bronze Team, supporting governance and development across the DMAP Velocity Change Model initiatives.
This role plays a key part in shaping solution design, ensuring technical consistency, and maintaining architectural standards across complex, data‐focused projects. You will work closely with delivery teams, technical leads, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are robust, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide architectural oversight and governance across DMAP Velocity Change Model projects
- Create and maintain High‐Level Designs (HLDs) and Low‐Level Designs (LLDs)
- Define system, integration, and data models
- Guide teams through the development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to D4D standards
- Support and embed Agile ways of working
- Review technical designs and implementations to ensure quality, security, and scalability
- Collaborate with delivery teams to resolve architectural and technical challenges
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience as a Software or Solution Architect
- Hands‐on experience with: Talend, Unix/Linux, Oracle SQL & PL/SQL
- Strong working knowledge of: AWS, GitLab, Vault, Artifactory, Berlin Job Scheduler
- Experience using: Jira & Confluence, Test Automation Frameworks
- Solid understanding of data modelling and integration patterns
- Proven experience working within a D4D development lifecycle
- Comfortable operating in complex, governed environments
Desirable (Optional)
- Experience with Denodo
- Background in public sector or highly regulated programmes
Security & Location Requirements
- Active SC Clearance held with HMRC or another UK government department (must be transferable)
- Hybrid working with attendance at Telford or Worthing for occasional workshops
