The Senior Data Scientist (pre-sales) is an experienced expert who provides industry thought leadership on analytics and its applications across industries and use cases. They support the account team by framing business problems and identifying analytic solutions that leverage Teradata technology, focusing on disruptive, innovative, and practical approaches. An articulate and compelling communicator, they establish Teradata as a key partner for advanced analytics with customers and prospects, acting as a trusted advisor to executives, senior managers, and fellow data scientists. They are also hands-on, ready to deliver proof of concepts and short-term pre-sales engagements. The Senior Data Scientist has a strong understanding of statistics and machine learning, with a proven track record of applying this knowledge at scale to generate business benefits. They are naturally curious, a problem solver, and effective at promoting Teradata solutions.
The successful candidate will collaborate with other expert team members to:
- Provide pre-sales support at an executive level to Teradata account teams, helping position and sell complex analytic solutions that drive software sales.
- Offer strategic pre-sales consulting to executives and senior managers in target markets.
- Support the delivery of proof of concept (PoC) and proof of value (PoV) projects demonstrating analytic use-case viability and Teradata’s solutions' superiority.
- Work with the extended account team and sales analytics specialists to develop new analytic propositions aligned with industry trends and customer needs.
- Proven hands-on experience with complex analytics at scale, such as in IoT and sensor data.
- Knowledge of PMML and ONNX model standards for portability.
- Experience with Teradata’s analytical products, cloud services like AzureML and Sagemaker, and partner products such as Dataiku and H2O.
- Strong programming skills in at least one major analytics language or tool besides SQL.
- Expertise in Data Science, with a solid foundation in statistics, advanced analytics, and machine learning, plus at least 5 years of practical experience.
- A passion for knowledge sharing and a commitment to continuous professional development.
- A belief in Teradata’s analytic solutions and a commitment to collaborating with product, engineering, and consulting teams to maintain market leadership.
- An ability to simplify complex technical topics for senior audiences.
- Degree-level qualification (preferably Master’s or PhD) in Statistics, Data Science, physical or biological sciences, or a related discipline.
