Senior Risk Analyst
As a Senior GIS Analyst, you’ll play a key role in supporting our frontline wastewater delivery teams by turning complex data into clear insights that drive real operational improvements. You’ll use GIS and spatial analysis to help us understand how our infrastructure assets are performing, where the risks lie, and how we can optimise them. Your analytical expertise will directly contribute to improving our environmental and regulatory performance, helping us make informed, data-driven decisions.
Please note, the internal title of this role is Senior Performance & Risk Analyst.
What you'll be doing as a Senior GIS Analyst
- Be recognised as the go-to expert for advanced geospatial analysis and operational insight, helping teams make data-driven decisions.
- Lead complex analysis that drives strategic change and influences both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop, maintain, and deliver geospatial data models and reports that provide accurate, trusted insight and measurable improvements.
- Take ownership of key reporting, ensuring quality, relevance, and clear commentary that supports operational and business objectives.
- Analyse the performance and behaviour of wastewater network assets, identifying trends and risks and sharing findings through clear visualisations and insight.
- Use your data expertise and operational understanding to design interventions that improve asset performance and reduce risk.
- Define and improve processes, monitor data quality, and maintain automated data pipelines used by teams across the business for key performance and investment decisions.
Base location: Hybrid - Reading, Clearwater Court RG1 8DB
Hours - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
What you should bring to the role
- Several years of relevant business or technical experience in a GIS Analyst role.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, or a related field is desirable.
- Expert knowledge of Databricks, ESRI ArcGIS and FME is essential.
- Proficiency in data visualisation and analysis using tools such as Power BI and Excel, or similar.
- Knowledge of additional analytical tools such as InfoAsset, SQL, Python, PySpark and Azure would be advantageous for this role.
- Ability to support the development and technical progression of others within the team.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to understand the wider context of analytical tasks.
