Facilities and Operations Manager (London Area)

Working in a small specialist College based in Stratford, the successful candidate will be an experienced operations or facilities management practitioner with excellent attention to detail, the patience to solve practical problems and the ability to work well alongside a small staff team and external contractors. S/he will manage the building and contracted facility and service operations of the College.

Key Responsibilities:  

  1. Manage the College’s estate and facilities with respect to operations, building, grounds and facility maintenance and premises health and safety policy. 
  2. Manage the College’s facilities and operations staff, and ensure robust systems are in place to support the effective operations of the College. 
  3. Manage the budget for premises maintenance and estate renewal works and achieve the most competitive pricing for goods and services for the College.
  4. Manage the development of new space within the premises for teaching and support. This will involve liaising with a team of external building and development professionals. 
  5. Manage College outsourced facilities services including Catering, Cleaning and Security/Alarm monitoring, building good working relationships with contract account leads. 
  6. Manage contract delivery for the College’s IT infrastructure, systems and policies including ensuring IT assets are security marked and maintained, and sourcing and managing third party advice and ensuring College compliance with GDPR and digital safeguarding. 
  7. Establish and maintain effective administration systems throughout the College, including systems for monitoring and reporting on all operational functions. 
  8. To be the College lead on all premises insurance and contract matters including sourcing and managing third party advice. 
  9. Lead risk management and business continuity planning for College operations. 

Experience - Essential Criteria  

  1. Experience of premises management
  2. Experience of contract management and managing outsourced services
  3. Experience of managing people and teams 
  4. Knowledge of health and safety legislation in relation to the workplace and codes of practice
