The Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance have an exciting opportunity to support the Business Intelligence function of the Cancer Alliance. We are looking to expand our team to transform cancer outcomes for the population of Cheshire and Merseyside.

Information Analyst - Band 51.0 WTE permanent post.

The Information Analyst will support the Senior Analysts in providing an information and intelligence support service for the Cancer Alliance. They will be responsible for the production of routine and ad-hoc analyses and for the submission of national and routine reports ensuring these are timely, accurate and fit for purpose.

Please be aware that this is a hybrid role and will require working at the Cancer Alliance base 2 days each week with the remainder being remote working. Applications cannot be considered for those who are unable to attend in-person.

Main duties of the job

The Information Analyst will work as part of a team to provide information to a broad range of partners and stakeholders across Cheshire and Merseyside, including clinicians and managers, to facilitate operational and strategic decision making, service development and performance management to support the Cancer Alliance transformation agenda

The Information Analyst will be responsible for producing a diverse range of ad-hoc information requests to support the wider Cancer Alliance team, programme and project managers. They will assist in the development of corporate and project reporting and support the Senior Analysts in robust analysis for Cancer Alliance programmes and projects.

The role provides a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to provide comprehensive analysis and information support to the Cancer Alliance.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent in a relevant subject or with equivalent experiential learning in the field of information analysis and reporting.

Knowledge

Essential
  • Knowledge of one or more computer systems or software and procedures to develop reports, documents and spreadsheets.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, to obtain, analyse and present information.
Desirable
  • An understanding of NHS data standards and statutory returns.
  • Knowledge and understanding of database and data presentation software eg Access, Power BI reporting, Tableau.
  • Knowledge of Somerset Cancer Registry.

Experience

Essential
  • Working within an information analysis and reporting environment.
  • Using databases and spreadsheets to extract and analyse information.
  • Experience of working with Excel utilising its advanced functionality.
  • Working within tight deadlines.
Desirable
  • Proven experience of working in Information Management in the NHS or healthcare environment with the associated specialist knowledge.
  • Working experience of business intelligence software both from a customer and technical viewpoint.
  • Experience of extracting and analysing complex and sensitive data to support the monitoring requirements to meet NHS targets.
