Location: London (Hybrid)
Day Rate: £850/day (Outside IR35)
Duration: 6 months
We're working with a leading financial services organisation looking for an experienced Middle Office Data Quality & Controls Specialist to support a high-impact programme focused on improving investment data integrity across public and private assets - including OTC Bilateral Derivatives and Direct Private Credit.
This is a contract role offering a high level of autonomy, visibility, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on business-critical processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and rationalise existing Middle Office data quality tools and processes.
- Coordinate and execute data quality checks using advanced Excel/VBA and/or Python.
- Investigate and resolve root causes of data issues; propose and document solutions.
- Implement improvements in processes, controls, and technology, including testing and sign-off.
- Upskill and train Middle Office staff in advanced Excel/VBA techniques.
- Support month-end process acceleration and data preparation for a 2026 strategic transformation programme.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience in Middle Office, Investment Operations, or Data Controls within Banking, Asset Management, or Insurance.
- Deep understanding of OTC Bilateral Derivatives, Public Assets, and Direct Private Credit workflows and data elements.
- Advanced Excel & VBA - must be confident building tools, macros, and templates from scratch.
- Experience with Python for data manipulation (highly desirable).
- Demonstrable track record in change programmes and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong communication and documentation skills - able to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have:
- Exposure to Solvency II and actuarial modelling data requirements.
- Experience in system implementations or technology change.
- Qualifications in Financial Markets, Business Analysis, or Project Management (desirable but not essential).
